Elizabeth Hackenson
Ms. Hackenson is the former CIO for MCI. In this role, she provided
technology vision and leadership for developing and implementing IT
initiatives to provide MCI a competitive edge in the ever-evolving telecom
marketplace. Ms. Hackenson and her team were responsible for transforming
MCI's enterprise-wide business processes through the implementation of new
systems. Many of these new systems will be off-the-shelf, best-in-class
solutions (COTS) to transform and revolutionize MCI's order to cash
processes. Ms. Hackenson and her team leveraged external partners to deliver
these new systems with speed and agility.
Ms. Hackenson joined the MCI family in 1997 as part of the ANS/UUNET
acquisition. Her prior assignments include Director of Product and Strategic
Development for UUNET where she was responsible for building new products
and served as a direct report to the CEO for corporate strategy; Senior
Director of Information Technology where she was responsible to design and
implement a new order flow-through system for Internet products; Senior
Director in Product Engineering where she was responsible for designing and
implementing MCI's world-wide customer care portal as well as systems
management infrastructure of new products such as MCI Advantage; Vice
President, Strategic Development where she was responsible for the delivery
of strategic IT initiatives and products designed to help transform and
simplify the business.
Prior to joining MCI, Ms. Hackenson spent 18 years in the Information
Technology industry. She has worked for 4 major Systems Integrators (EDS,
TRW, Grumman Data Systems and Unisys) and gained extensive knowledge in all
phases of the systems engineering life cycle. During her time with the major
integrators, Ms. Hackenson spanned many industries from state and federal
government, manufacturing to telecommunications. Ms. Hackenson also held
many security clearances working sensitive programs at the CIA, INS, and
U.S. Secret Service. She also spent one year as a Database Consultant to a
large federal agency.
In the past 12 years of her 24 year career, Ms. Hackenson focused on the
telecommunications industry. She has worked in product development spanning
network to video products and was a member of the Concert team who won
Product of the Year in 1997 for Concert's Flagship product known as CVNS.
Additionally, while in the telecommunications industry, Ms. Hackenson has
focused on ordering, provisioning, network management and eCRM solutions.
She has held various management positions since 1989 and has extensive
experience in delivery management, product development, strategic
development, program management, customer liaison, vendor management,
contract negotiations, staff recruitment and budget planning.
Ms. Hackenson holds an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences from New York
State University. She has also attended management classes at George Mason
University and is a graduate of the MBA Boot Camp sponsored by Stanford
University and Information Week. Ms. Hackenson was also recently recognized
in the Washington Post Top 200 female executives.
